A. Academic

1. At least 12 years of education (HSC equivalent).

 

B. Language Proficiency

1. Students must have sufficient knowledge in Japanese. At least 6-month Japanese language course.

2.Some Institutions allow TOEFL CBT score over 150 or TOEFL iBT score over 52.

 

C. Other Test

1. Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU).

2. Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

 

D. Course Length

1. Associate Degree: Approx. 2 to 3 years of full time study.

2. Bachelor Degree: 4 years for most Undergraduate departments (6 years for Medical Science).

1. At least 16 years of education.

Expenses

A. Tuition Fees in ¥Yen

1. It depends on universities. At National Universities approximately 9,40,961¥ per year. Local Public Universities approximately 10,69,676¥ per year. Private Universities approximately 7,48,352¥ to 57,46,277¥ per year.

2. Japanese Government Scholars are not required to pay tuition fees.

3. At graduate level (masters, doctorate) there are more opportunities for financial aid from both public and private universities.

 

B. Living & Other Expense in ¥Yen

1. Food, cloth, transport, travel, telephone & incidental cost approximately 1,31,878¥ to 1,78,092¥ per year.

C. Accommodation Expense in ¥Yen

1. 6-tatami-mat room (shared toilet): less than ¥45,000.

2. 6-tatami-mat room with cooking facilities & toilet: about ¥45,000.

3. 6-tatami-mat room with cooking facilities, toilet & bath: about ¥67,500.

4. 6-tatami-mat room with cooking facilities, toilet, bath & air-conditioning: about ¥74,250.

D. Health Insurance in ¥Yen

1. International students must have adequate arrangements for health insurance.

2. Insurance costs generally from ¥18,000 for per year.

3. It is a good idea to take out travel insurance before leaving Bangladesh.

Other Information

A. Working in Japan

1. Students can apply for permission to work once they start their course on a student visa

2. You must get permission from school attended as well as from the nearest Regional Immigration Bureau.

3. University or College students: With permission you can work up to 28 hours per week during course time. During vacation, you are allowed to work up to 8 hours per day.

4. Research students: With permission you can work up to 14 hours per week during course time. During vacation, you are allowed to work up to 8 hours per day.

5. On-campus jobs do not provide enough funds to cover your tuition or living expenses.

 

B. Jobs in Japan

1. The job areas are: Fast food catering, convenient store sales clerk, Translation, Computer work, Cram school teacher, tutor, Bodyguard, window cleaner.

2. Average wages (per hour-casual time):

a. English teacher: 3,000-4,000 ¥ per hour.

b. Retail sales assistant: 1,000-1,200 ¥ per hour.

c. Restaurant Service Staff: 900-1,000 ¥ per hour.

 

3. Average wages (per month-full time):

a. Chef: 200,000 - 400,000 ¥ per month.

b. Accountant: 250,000 ¥ per month.

c. Engineer: 4.0M ¥ per month.

d. Office staff: 250,000 - 500,000 ¥ per month.

e. Bar, Nightclub and sex related jobs are not allowed for students.

 

C. How to Apply to The University

1. Check with the departments to see if there is a closing date for your application.

2. You should write directly to the Institution's Admission Office for detailed application information and forms.

3. You can also download application form from university website.

4. Some universities have an on-line application facility.

5. Admission Office will inform you about the documentation, translation, and visa requirements.

6. You should start at least one year in advance to compile the necessary information and documentation.

7. The decision of the institution is usually announced within approximately six to eight months of the application deadline.

D. Supporting Documents

1. Completed Application Form

2. English version of your all educational documents including mark sheet.

3. School/College leaving certificate.

4. Application fee payment document.

5. English language (TOEFL) tests result.

6. Photocopy of your passport.

 

E. Credit Transfer Facility

1. Students may apply for credit transfer program at undergraduate or postgraduate level in Japan.

2. The maximum amount of credit that may be granted normally is not greater than 50% of the course.

3. Most of the Japanese universities consider minimum "B" grade for acceptance.

4. You have to submit the following documents to your target university:

a. Your application form for the Undergraduate or Postgraduate coursework program.

b. Official copies of your academic transcript.

c. Also include an official letter from head of the school/department of your university, from where you have already completed the courses.

d. Detailed course outlines (Official Copy) including subject descriptions, methods of teaching and assessment, reading lists, number of hours of teaching etc.

e. The academic level you are studying (e.g. First Year, Second Year etc.).

f. How many credits you have completed.

g. An explanation of the grading system used at your institution.

h. Information on the total units of study requirement ( i.e. how many credits are required) for the completion of the degree.

2. You may also search scholarship in Japanese Govt. education site MEXT.

3. Asian Youth Fellowship (AYE).

4.  Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS).
